Traffic on US-17 is an unfortunate byproduct of Hampstead’s rapid growth. The multi-lane Hampstead Bypass aims to solve this problem with construction slated to begin in 2020. This 13 miles of four lane divided highway is scheduled to help congestion along the current Hwy 17 corridor in Hampstead. The first section of the bypass would extend from Hwy 17 to NC Hwy 210.
